Through my experiences I have developed into a proven leader. Where I know that my overall goal is to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with the whole team as well as each individual team member. This will ensure consistent results and above par efforts and results from the entire team.
As a manager, it is important to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of every team member. Placing staff in the appropriate role, will allow them to grow and succeed as individuals as well as the entire team. Working together and learning how to provide the best service to the membership and their guests.
No task is too small or unimportant. I work with the entire team and I will do any task they will be asked to do. This allows me to lead by example in all aspects of the operation. It helps me to understand and witness how things are getting done, train staff to maintain higher standards that our membership expects and garners the respect of the entire team.
Building trust and respect lays the foundation for achieving high standards collectively and continuously raising the bar for both individual and team expectations.
Maintaining consistent and transparent communication with the team is paramount for operational success. Alignment within the team is crucial, ensuring that everyone is on the same page. While internal departmental communication is vital, fostering robust relationships with other departments is equally essential, especially when orchestrating successful events. Demonstrating and teaching methodologies ensures that expectations remain crystal clear. Acknowledging that verbal or written communication can be subject to interpretation, my approach is to not only articulate instructions but to also exemplify processes, providing tangible clarity for seamless understanding and execution.
A positive attitude is infectious. Life can be viewed as an obligation or as a choice, and I consistently choose gratitude for the opportunities presented to me. I don't just say 'I have to do this,' but rather, 'I get to do this!' With a genuine smile, I aim for my positive attitude to be contagious within the team, fostering a collective mindset of appreciation for the work we undertake.
We get nowhere without setting goals. My team as well as myself need to have a clear picture of where we want to go, how we get there, why are we here and who do we want to be? Setting personal and professional goals for my team and myself will give all of us accountability to each other to stay on the correct path. It is a great way to monitor our progress and stay focused on the big picture
I share my personal and professional experiences and goals with my team. I try to lead by example. Not every team member will have the same goals, but all of us need to chart a course to achieve them. I help them create their plan and set goals. We hold each other accountable to those goals.
I like to share my own experiences with them; my failures and accomplishments. We all learn from our failures and by sharing them, we may help others to not repeat them.
Most importantly, I encourage my team to focus on the little things. Getting them right will make the big picture that much greater. I come to work every day with a positive attitude. A smile on my face tells them I’m living my dream. If they remember why they are here and why they are doing what they do, they will stay focused on their goals.o.
